Lost work…
I’ve been using Mycroburst for my designing work. Projects are set up as ‘contests’, and all designers compete against one another to win. Good and bad points to this, but it makes life fairly simple for me…..with not a lot of time on my hands to design.
I’m gonna rant a tiny bit about losing projects. In the end it’s no big deal. Win some…lose some. It’s the initial reaction I have when I lose to something that of course in my opinion…..isn’t near as nice as my design. Sure, it’s personal preference. Makes complete sense that the PH (project holder) that’s paying for the design….pick the one they love best. In my mind I just don’t see what they see. Obviously.
Here are two recent examples…
This is my design for RedHeadDo
This is the design that won…

Here’s a photo of the PH. So………………………..you tell me. Besides requesting that her hair be more red, and a bit longer…someone please tell me which logo you’d be more attracted to if you were going to get your hair done.
No offense to the winning designer, and not necessarily criticizing the PH for her choice. I just don’t believe it works better then mine. Not appeal-wise, and not for capturing her beauty and vibrancy.
The second design I lost was for Tispy Foodie blog.
The project hasn’t been finalized yet, but the project holder eliminated my design (below)…

You can CLICK HERE to view the designs that are still in standing. PLEASE……….someone explain to me what on the earth the PH is thinking??? Cheap? Sleazy? I’m stumped. The best thing to do for a project like this is laugh, and walk away.
The interesting thing is that more often then not….the PH will contact me after the fact, and apologize for begin hasty in their decision. And…ask if they can still purchase my design, which they’ve come to see is better. Unfortunately, they still have to pay for their first choice.
Guess I’m just purging a little. There’s always a dozen more projects to participate in. Lets just call it jealousy and leave it at that. Sore loser? Limited vision? I don’t know. Congrats always to the winners, and those that are out there paying for custom branding. Seriously….gotta love the kitten kaboodle.
Sissy’s Grillin’ Dust Logo
Had a lot of fun with this project! I guess I have a lot of fun with all the projects
I’m grateful that I’m able to do something that I really enjoy a lot! There’s a lot of heart and passion that goes into every logo I design. Basically I treat each project as if it were for my own business. 150%!
This was the first design I submitted, which I love the pin-up look of. The client wanted to use her own artwork for the fairy, so I vectorized it below. Final Design in the label in green. Tried looking up consumer info to post, but couldn’t find anything yet, or a website. Keep an eye out for it in your local grocery!
Affordable Logo and Branding Designs. No Stock Graphics
This was a super fun logo to design, and the client was extra nice to send Baby-James a t-shirt with the printed logo on it for Christmas!!! Will have to post a photo of him wearing it.
More Fun Logo Designs….
This is the first design I submitted for Sasquatch Spirits. A little too “fun” spirited.
This is the logo the ended up with. I really had fun with this project! Check out there site…….here!
Really love the look of this logo! Has great energy I think!
Another fish themed logo. Also fun. A logo like this……if I’m intuiting correctly, and all goes well….only takes a day or two turnaround! Most of these logo’s came in around $200. At that price you can’t afford not to have a stellar logo for your business!!! If I do say so myself.
Book Cover Design: She’s Not The Type
Here’s a cover I did for an e-book, “She’s Not The Type”. Again, showing various concepts and the finished design.
